FUN WAYS TO EAT BANANAS

Bananas are really nice fruits (I love them), sweet and quite filling. They make a great snack especially if you're watching your weight and have some amazing health benefits. Bananas contain a variety of vitamins and minerals including vitamin B6, protein, dietary fibre, vitamin C and others. They can help in reducing blood pressure, weight loss, maintaining a healthy heart and some other amazing stuff. Even the peels are useful add rubbing the inside of a banana peel on a mosquito bite can help stop the itching, and I don't need to say anything on how invaluable that is in a country like Nigeria where humans are basically a living feast for mosquitoes. So you should definitely include bananas in your daily meal plan, and if you get bored of the usual plain banana snack (eaten alone or in a fruit salad) or smoothie, here are some cool recipes you could try. N/B: To keep your bananas from getting ripe to soon, wrap the head of the bunch with a plastic wrap. BANANA "IC...

CHICKEN SAUCE

Decided to make chicken sauce yesterday for a change from the usual stew. 'Twas my first time making it and it turned out really good (my sisters loved it), so here's the recipe if you're interested and let me know how it turns out. RECIPE 1. Chicken  2. Irish potatoes (3-5 tubers depending on         the quantity) 3. Carrots 4. Green peppers  5. Great peas 6. Ginger 7. Garlic (optional) 8. Curry powder  9. Spring onions (or any other type of                  onions) 10 Vegetable or olive oil  11 Pepper (bell peppers or chilli powder) 12 Seasoning  13 Salt  Peel the potatoes, boil and blend or mash till it forms a paste. Steam the chicken with salt, pepper and any other seasoning and as much water as you want to use for the sauce (I usually first boil it with little salt and pepper for a few minutes and then pour out the stock and wash the chicken to get r...

FOOD ADDICTIONS (FOODICTIONS😉)

I'm pretty sure everyone has that one food/snack/drink that they're addicted to, whether it's healthy or not. Mine is groundnuts/peanuts, yeah I'm weird like that. I like it boiled, roasted, fried (turned into "peanuts"); as long as it's groundnut I'm all for it. I was born with a hatred for soft/non-crunchy foods, and when I say I was born I mean from birth, so I hate basically all pastries (bread is the worst, hate that stuff with a passion, hate even the smell and don't even dare to touch it). So since I hate non-crunchy foods I obviously l😍ve crunchy foods like chips and groundnut, and to fuel that love, I was raised by a dad that loves groundnuts so much that he makes them himself.  Yeah, there's always a bottle of groundnuts at home (which doesn't last more than 2days), and even after I moved out of my parent's I still eat it daily. I'm so addicted to eating groundnuts that when my sister suggested I reduce my intake cos o...

DIGESTION PHASES

So about 2 months ago I visited my godmother who's a nutritionist, and in her usual way she started talking about my weight 😒. Anyway, while talking about weight loss she mentioned a method she uses with her clients to help them loose weight and keep off the lost weight. It's not a diet exactly, it's based on what she called the "Phases of Digestion" I think, can't exactly remember. So basically there are three phases of digestion, and the body digests food differently in each phase. Elimination Phase (4am-12pm): this takes place between 4am nd 12pm. During this period the body is basically eliminating waste in preparation for the next phase. In order to help this process one should eat fruits, foods high in fibre, whole foods... basically anything that aids waste elimination. So breakfast shouldn't be really heavy foods like rice and stuff because the body isn't ready for the heavy stuff yet. Optimization Phase (12pm-6:30/7pm):  at this point th...

MY FAVORITE FOOD

So my favorite food of all time is pasta (spaghetti to be precise). Now I don't just love any kind of spaghetti, I like spaghetti prepared to my taste. I generally don't like stew, so any food with stew (rice and stew, beans and stew, etc) I'm not a fan of; I prefer gravvy or sauce (more on that later). So back to pasta... For spaghetti, I prefer it "jollof" or stir-fried. For jollof I prepare it same as jollof rice (but sometimes without tomatoes and it works really well). For the stir-fried I usually use cabbage and carrots as the main veggies and add anything else. Other types of pasta like macaroni, twists, etc. I prefer stir-fried. RECIPES JOLLOF SPAGHETTI  INGREDIENTS  Spaghetti  Any protein of choice (chicken, beef, egg, fish, sausage, shrimps, etc) Onoins Tomatoes (fresh or tin or both) Vegetable oil  Pepper (red or yellow bell peppers or chilli flakes/powder) Salt Ginger Garlic (optional) Seasoning  Veggies (carrot, green peas, celery...
